Privacy policy: Aquarium journal
Effective date: 2026-09-24. Applies to the Android app „Aquarium journal” (pl.lbr.aquarium) and to this aquarium monitor.
Who processes the data
The app connects only to the aquarium monitor server whose address the user enters, usually the user's own Raspberry Pi. The app developer does not run any server that receives user data and has no access to it.
What data is processed and why
- Login and password: sent to the user's server to sign in. The app keeps only the session cookie, not the password.
- Server address: stored on the phone to connect.
- Photos: only those the user chooses or takes (journal, disease and algae diagnosis, test strips), sent to the user's server.
- Aquarium data (sensor readings, water tests, journal entries, settings): stored on the user's server and shown in the app.
- Alarms: if notifications are allowed, the app asks the user's server about every 15 minutes for new alarms and shows them as phone notifications.
- Downloaded files (CSV export, backup, images): saved in the phone's Downloads folder at the user's request.
What the app does not do
No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no data sale, no sharing with third parties. The app does not access location, contacts or the camera directly; photos are taken by the system camera app when the user chooses it.
Security
Data travels between the phone and the user's server. With an https:// address it is encrypted in transit. With a local http:// address (home network) it is not encrypted, so an https:// address is recommended outside the home network.
Retention and deletion
Uninstalling the app or clearing its data removes the server address and session from the phone. The data on the server is managed and deleted by its owner in the aquarium monitor (Settings). The app has no user accounts run by the developer, so there is no account to delete on the developer's side.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13.
Access request form on this website
The form sends the e-mail address you enter and the optional details (name, phone model, Raspberry Pi and sensors, interest in the sensors and measuring kit, message) to the owner by e-mail (via Resend) and, if enabled, as a WhatsApp notification (via CallMeBot). They are used only to reply to your request with the installation file (and, if you ticked it, to let you know once about the sensors and measuring kit) and are not shared with anyone else. You can ask for them to be deleted at the contact address below. To block spam bots, the form may use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks the browser without cookies for advertising.
